Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit will be reuniting onscreen for their upcoming film 'Kalank' after 21 years. Only a few know that it was not an easy task to bring together both the actors in the same frame once again. Madhuri and Sanjay were once rumoured to be in the relationship in the '90s before Sanjay Dutt got embroiled in the 1993 blast case, were reportedly not comfortable enough to speak about their reunion.

At an event, when Republic's reporter asked Sanjay Dutt about sharing screen space with Madhuri Dixit after 21 years, the actor walked off.

So what made the 'reluctant' Sanjay Dutt give his nod for Ayan Mukerji's directorial 'Kalank'? Well, it's none other than film's producer Karan Johar. While Madhuri Dixit was open to "working with anyone", it was Sanjay Dutt who was not sure about sharing screen space with his rumoured ex-flame. And so, taking over the reins in his hands, it was producer Karan Johar who convinced Sanjay Dutt of letting bygones be bygones.

According to reports, Karan Johar reminded Sanjay Dutt that whatever happened between the two actors was in the past and that now they are happily married to their respective spouses.

Sanjay Dutt tied the knot with Maanayata in 2008, and the couple has two kids - son Shahraan and daughter Iqra. While Madhuri Dixit is married to Dr. Shriram Nene and they have two children - sons Arin and Rayaan.

Directed by Abhishek Varman, 'Kalank' boasts of a stellar cast including Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sonakshi Sinha. In fact, the film was earlier supposed to star late actress Sridevi, but it was her sudden demise that led Madhuri Dixit to replace Sridevi. 'Kalank', which was incepted 15 years ago by Karan Johar and his father late Yash Johar, is slated to release on April 19, 2019. On the other hand, the shoot for Sanjay Dutt's biopic is ongoing. The film has picked the interest of people after Ranbir Kapoor's look from the film leaked and went viral on the internet. His uncanny resemblance to Sanjay Dutt has garnered the attention of people.
