Sushant Singh Rajput is a philosophical guy. Followers of the MS Dhoni star's #DailyMusings will know that he is rather good at talking about things that confuse both him as well as his fans. This time, however, he has put his musings aside and moved on to a MindHack, which is all about a new kind of thinking!

"Think bottom-up, not top-down for reasoning", says Sushi, going on to elaborate his thoughts thusly:

“Think Bottom-Up, not Top-Down for reasoning.”
Almost everything important that happens in both nature and society happens from the bottom up, not the top-down. Most people, however, see the world from the top down. The reason is that our brains evolved to find design in the world, and our experience with designed objects is that they have a designer, whom we consider to be intelligent. Bottom- up reasoning is counterintuitive but most of the times correct.

Examples of bottom- up designs;
(Water, Evolution, Economy, Life, democracy, language, Internet etc.) Look up 👇
1. Bottom-Up design vs Top-down
2. Emergence
3. Memetics (Richard Dawkins)
4. Free floating rationale (Dan dennett)
5. Chaos theory
6. Peter Godfrey smith Darwinian spaces

And then, finally, he proves his point with a picture.

The picture on the right is the iconic Sagrada Familia basilica in Barcelona, which has been under construction for almost 140 years and is still unfinished. Rajput says the Sagrada Familia is an example of top-down design.

And on the left is an Australian termite hill which is presumably an example of a bottom-up approach which he describes as competence without comprehension.
