With less than two days to go before Phase one of the Gujarat Elections, The Bharatiya Janata party has gone all guns blazing.
The latest proof is Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who on Thursday addressed a tenacious Rajkot crowd who greeted him with chants of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and ‘Modi.’ Yogi Adityanath’s address was nothing less than a war cry ahead of what could be one of the most interesting Gujarat elections.
Here are the top five things that the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said in Rajkot, which gives a clear glimpse of what’s on Bharatiya Janata Party’s agenda ahead of the elections.
The BJP has always been on the front foot when it comes to development and in this election too, it looks like the BJP is banking strongly on the development angle which was evident from what Yogi spoke in Rajkot.
‘Narendra Modi is vikasputra, was hailed by Donald Trump. Have you seen the Gujarat before 1995? Compare it with what the state is today.’
BJP has always gone on the attack against the Congress, raking up Rahul Gandhi’s ‘inefficiency’ and the Congress’ ‘lack of development.’ Even Yogi Adityanath in Rajkot brought up the same, showing Rahul Gandhi the mirror with Amethi.
‘Why is Rahul Gandhi questioning development? Congress is anti-development, what has Rahul Gandhi done for Amethi? Rahul has no right to speak on development.’
One of the significant newspoints that happened in the run up to the elections was Rahul Gandhi visiting the Somnath Temple among others, this move by the soon-to-be Congress President was heavily criticised with even Yogi mentioning it in the address.
“Rahul needs to be trained on how to sit and perform puja in Mandirs. He doesn’t understand the difference between a Mandir and Masjid, then calls himself a ‘Janeu Dhaari’ ”
Yogi Adityanath is not known to mince his words. Often saying what he thinks, Yogi in Rajkot slammed the congress for a series of recent incidents including the Ayodhya hearing and Kapil Sibal’s comments.
“Rahul believes in picnics, when an ordinary Gujarati is in trouble, where is Rahul Gandhi? Only Modi has stood by you. They (Congress) only want to insult the Hindus, what is Rahul’s view on the Ram Temple? Does the Congress want the Temple or not?”
Corruption is something that has haunted the Congress regime in the past and will continue to do so. But Yogi Adityanath concluded his address in a strong manner, leaving no stones unturned in his attack on the Congress Party.
“Has Congress forgot its corruption under UPA 1 and 2? Congress is dividing the country, dividing the communities and is against development. Throw this Congress out of Gujarat forever.”
