A circular was sent out by local District Education Officers (DEO) of Ahmedabad, Vadodara, and Surat to around 3000 local schools to conduct educational sessions with students on the recent abrogation of Article 370.

The circular stated that this is a unique way to mark PM Modi's birthday on September 17. "Our PM believes that rather than celebrating him as a person, it is a better way to dedicate the day to him by educating the coming generation about the recent changes in Jammu and Kashmir. This way, the students will understand the situation better and know about the history of the state as well," DEO office stated.

The circular stated that the Principal of each school will prepare a lecture on the history of Kashmir, and how abrogation was implemented and what it would mean for the people living in the state. After that, there will also be various intellectual games and sessions for the students throughout the day. There will be group discussions, debates, elocution and several other activities which will be organised for the only purpose of educating and engaging the students in the entire issue. Also, to have an open and healthy debate about counter views on the subject as well.

This activity will be carried out by secondary and higher secondary school students. And it is especially to demark PM Modi's birthday and to 'gift knowledge ' to students about the intricacies about the decision made by the current government to abrogate the special status to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370. The school's principals have also been directed to record the events and send it across which will be followed closely by the Gujarat Minister of Education Bhupendrasinh Chudasama who reiterated, "This is a great way to educate the children about the recent developments. There should be more of such informative programs that should be carried out across the country."

“There are a lot of people who also spread misinformation on the subject it is imperative that the coming generation understands this with clarity,” said Rakesh Vyas, DEO, Ahmedabad (rural).
