#HypocritePahlaj — From 'Sanskaari' chief to distributing adult films, Pahlaj Nihalani takes hypocrisy to the next level

A man who cut a kissing scene in the James Bond film Spectre in an attempt to "clean up" Indian cinema, is now the distributor of erotic film Julie 2. Yes,we're talking about former 'Sanskaar' CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani, who has taken hypocrisy to new heights. After being sacked as the Censor Board chief after a controversial tenure, Pahlaj has returned to distributing films — ironically, he's distributing films he opposed as CBFC chairman. 

Pahlaj, who had earlier refused to pass Lipstick Under My Burkha as CBFC chairman for being "lady-oriented", is now presenting Julie 2, an adult film which he calls "Bold, beautiful and blessed." 

In case you're wondering why distributing an adult film makes Pahlaj Nihalani a hyocrite, take a look at Julie 2's poster. 

When confronted by Republic TV, Pahlaj went on to say that he's now back to distributing films and that he has every right to attach himself to a project of his choosing.

"I started distrubuting films in 1964. I have performed my duty as CBFC chairman in an honest manner but I'm now back to distributing films. Julie 2 is a bold, beautiful and blessed film." 

Interestingly, Pahlaj presented a rather bizarre justification when his hypocrisy was pointed out. "I'm the distributor of this film, not the producer," the former CBFC chairman said. Given the brazenness with which he had cut films which had adult content as CBFC chief, it remains to be seen if Pahlaj will get a taste of his own medicine when Julie 2 goes to the Censor Board. 

Directed by Deepak Shivdasani, Julie 2 features Raai Laxmi in the lead role. The film is slated to release on October 6.
