Omar Abdullah hits back at Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan for attributing Priyanka Gandhi's political entry to Rahul Gandhi needing help

Omar Abdullah slammed the Speaker of the Lok Sabha Sumitra Mahajan on Friday after she posted a sarcastic tweet on the induction of Priyanka Gandhi-Vadra into Congress.

Omar Abdullah slammed the Speaker of the Lok Sabha Sumitra Mahajan on Friday after she posted a sarcastic tweet on the induction of Priyanka Gandhi-Vadra into Congress.

Sumitra Mahajan had on Thursday that Gandhi-Vadra's appointment into Congress meant that Rahul Gandhi has admitted that he can’t do politics by himself and he needed his sister's help.

"She (Priyanka Gandhi Vadra) is a good woman, & Rahul Ji has accepted he can’t do politics all alone, and for that he is taking Priyanka’s help. It is a good thing,

Omar Abdullah shot back at the Mahajan saying that she was taking cheap shots and should do so when she is not the Speaker of the Lok Sabha.

"Ma’am you are the Speaker of the Lok Sabha. Can you save the cheap shots for when you no longer occupy that high office," he said.
 

On Wednesday, Priyanka Gandhi-Vadra was appointed the General Secretary of  Uttar Pradesh (East).

Earlier on Thursday, top BJP sources have told Republic TV that the ruling saffron party quite confident on contesting against the newly appointed member of the Opposition party. Speaking to Republic TV, top BJP sources said that the party is ready to fight against Priyanka Gandhi, the way they fought against former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. 

While the Congress assumes that Priyanka Gandhi's entry into the politics will work as a masterstroke in the northern state for the party weeks ahead of the crucial Lok Sabha polls, the top BJP sources have raised questions over Gandhi's appointment for the Uttar Pradesh east region, which also consists of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's constituency Varanasi. Furthermore, the sources have also told Republic TV that the BJP party is confident get the benefit from the three-way battle in Uttar Pradesh - between BJP-led NDA, Congress-led UPA and the newly formed alliance of Mayawati's BSP and Akhilesh Yadav's SP.
