Ships Of Southern Naval Command At Kochi 'Dressed Overall' On The Occasion Of Republic Day

As a customary tradition, the ships of Southern Naval Command at Kochi welcomed the dawn of the 69th Republic Day with the "dressing overall" ceremony, in which multiple flags, which are otherwise used for signalling, were hoisted  from stem to stern during the "colours" ceremony. 

"Colours" is the name given to the regular f lag hoisting ceremony conducted on naval ships and establishments in the morning every day. Dressing overall is carried out on special occasions during the colours.

Vice Admiral AR Karve, AVSM, PVSM, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Naval Command was the Chief Guest of the ceremony. Incidentally Vice Admiral Karve's PVSM (Param Vishisht Seva Medal) was announced on Friday itself.

The nation is celebrating its 69th Republic Day on Friday. For the first time ever, leaders of 10 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries - Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Myanmar (Burma), Cambodia, Laos and Brunei graced the Republic Day parade as chief guests in the national capital.
