The Enforcement Department on Friday conducted raids at the premises of Congress leader Mahesh Nagar in connection with Bikaner land case. Raids were conducted at his residence in Faridabad, bordering the national capital, sources say. Nagar is allegedly linked to Robert Vadra in connection with its money laundering probe in a land scam case in Bikaner. Vadra had allegedly given the legal authority to Nagar to purchase the Bikaner land.
In December last year, the agency had arrested Ashok Kumar, a close associate of Nagar, and another person, Jaiprakash Bagarwa. Nagar is said to be associated with Ms Skylight Hospitality Private Limited, a firm with alleged links to Congress president Rahul Gandhi's brother-in-law Vadra.
The ED probe in the case is related to the purchase of 275 bigha land allegedly by the company in Bikaner's Kolayat area a few years back.
The issue of the land scam in Bikaner dates back to 2007 when 1,400 acres of land was illegally sold to private companies. The land was meant to be given as compensation to farmers, whose plots were acquired by the government to set up the firing range at Mahajan. But instead, it allegedly went to fictitious beneficiaries.
