Congress "benefited" From Mahatma Gandhi's Murder: Union Minister Uma Bharti

Union Minister Uma Bharti on Thursday said that if anyone gained the maximum from the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi, it is the Congress party. According to news agency ANI, she said,“Gandhi ji ki hatya ka fayda sirf Congress ko hua kyunki Gandhi ji Congress ko disperse karne wale they” (Mahatma Gandhi had plans to disperse the Congress hence, the maximum gain of his assassination has been reaped out by the Congress)

She further said, the murder of Mahatma Gandhi needs reconsideration. "Godse may have killed Gandhi, but who instigated him?," the Union Minister questioned. Mahatma Gandhi was murdered on January 30, 1948, in Delhi by Nathuram Vinayak Godse, who was a member of Hindu Mahasabha.

The Drinking Water and Sanitation Minister’s comments come a few days after the Supreme Court on October 6 appointed senior advocate and former additional solicitor general Amrendra Sharan as amicus curiae on a plea seeking re-probe of Gandhi's murder. The plea is filed by Mumbai-based Dr. Pankaj Phadnis, a researcher and a trustee of Abhinav Bharat.
