Goa CM Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday penned down a scathing letter to Rahul Gandhi and lashed out at the Congress president for trying to gain political mileage from his courtesy visit to the former Defence Minister.

On Tuesday, the Congress president had met the ailing Goa CM at his residence. A day later though, during his address to the Youth Congress workers, Rahul Gandhi said that the former Defence minister had told him during their meeting that he had no know-how about the 'changes in the Rafale deal'.

Parrikar, hours after Rahul Gandhi's recent comments, wrote that no such conversation had taken place, and accused the Congress president of playing petty politics in the guise of paying a visit to an ailing person.

"Paying a courtesy visit and then stooping so low as to make a false statement for petty political gain has raised, in my mind, questions about the sincerity and purpose of your visit itself. " part of the Goa CM's letter read.

Manohar Parrikar further expressed that he was disappointed with the following actions of Rahul Gandhi, and did not expect such from the Congress president.

"Here I am fighting against a life-threatening illness. Due to my training and ideological strength, I wish to serve Goa and its people against any/all odds. I thought your visit would give me your good wishes in that cause of serving our people. Little did I know that you had other intentions. With deep disappointment, I write to you hoping that you would put out the truth. Kindly do not use your visit to an ailing person to feed political opportunism', the letter added.

The Goa Chief Minister also refuted all the allegations made by Rahul Gandhi surrounding the Rafale deal:

"It is reported in the media that today you have said quoting me that I was nowhere in the process of procuring Rafale nor did I have any information then about it. I feel let down that you have used this visit for your petty political gains. In the 05 minutes you spent with me, neither did you mention anything about Rafale, nor did we discuss anything about/related to it. Nothing whatsoever about Rafale was even mentioned in your meeting with me," his scathing letter to the Congress president read.

Ahead of the Rafale debate in Parliament, Rahul Gandhi had released an audio-tape which he claimed was of Goa Minister Vishwajit Rane, in which Rane allegedly said that all the files concerning the Rafale deal were with Manohar Parrikar who was deliberately keeping them in his bedroom.
