Dr. leader Subramanian Swamy on Tuesday tore into Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti-led government for filing a case against some Army personnel in connection with the death of two civilians in Shopian firing. Two civilians were killed and nine others injured after the army opened fire on protesters in Ganowpora village of south Kashmir's Shopian district on Saturday. The army opened fire after it came under heavy stone pelting from a mob in the village.
Taking to Twitter, Dr. Swamy wrote, “Patriots are enraged and aghast at Mehbooba CM directing FIR filed against Army. But in J&K Assembly she says Def Minister okayed it!! True?” He further added, “Time for Ms. Sitharaman Defence Minister to clarify: was she accurately quoted by JK CM in the Assembly on giving Ok to file FIR ?”
On speaking exclusively to Republic TV, Dr. Subramanian Swamy said,
‘The entire party is outraged by the FIR. It is an act of rebellion. It is an act against the Indian Constitution and the Armed Forces manual.”
“I do not think this government should be allowed to continue, it should be dismissed. There should be a governors rule and the whole state should be handed over to the Army. This is heights of betrayal and something that cannot be tolerated.”
