Lashing out at Mani Shankar Aiyar for abusing PM Modi, Dr Jitendra Singh, MoS PMO,  said that his statement only reflects the Congress party's "feudalist and medieval" mindset. In an exclusive interview with Republic TV, the Union Minister said that Narendra Modi is not just the Prime Minister of BJP but of the entire country.

"This speaks of the Congress party's feudalist, casteist and medieval mindset. The more they call names to Prime Minister, the more endeared he would become to the people of Gujarat," Dr Singh said.

Earlier, Mani Shankar Aiyar had described PM Modi as a "neech aadmi" who resorts to dirty politics. When questioned by Republic TV over his remarks, the Congress leader shockingly snatches his mic and throws it away. Condemning such behaviour, Dr Jitendra Singh said, "Is this what they describe as freedom of expression? Is freedom of expression limited only to those who chant slogans of 'Bharat ki Barbaadi? Don't journalists have the right to carry out their professional obligations?"

"They (Congress) have been ruling the country for most of the 70 years post Independence. The party is run on dynastic patterns and it reflects in the way they deal with the Opposition, people and media persons. But India of 2017 will not accept this," he added.

Having faced backlash for his comments from across the country, including his own party leader Rahul Gandhi, Mani Shankar Aiyar attempted to justify his remarks and claimed that he doesn't have a full understanding over the Hindi language.

"If he does not understand the language, he should have put out two apologies — one for having said what he said and the other for not understanding the language. Because in public life, you have no pardons," Dr Singh quipped.
