After being exposed on the Ayodhya issue, sources have told Republic TV that Congress has now asked Kapil Sibal to stay out of Gujarat.
Advocate Kapil Sibal was expected to attend a few rallies and events in Gujarat for the election campaign. But after his controversial comments on the Ayodhya issue the Congress party has denied his attendance in the state, say sources.
The Congress party had distanced itself from Kapil Sibal after his comments on the Ram Mandir in the Supreme Court. While arguing for the Sunni Waqf Board, Sibal had asked for the Ayodhya matter to be heard post the 2019 elections.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Sunni Waqf Board and the BJP had all condemned Sibal’s comments on the matter.
“Ram Mandir is a very serious litigation, SC should consider hearing it after July 15, 2019. We all know what’s happening here will have a huge ramifications outside & in the polity of this country”, Kapil Sabil said on Tuesday during the final hearing in the long-standing Ayodhya dispute.
