Here are the regional leaders the Congress has invited to HD Kumaraswamy's swearing in as Karnataka chief minister

Hours after Yeddyurappa resigned as chief minister of Karnataka, the Congress has issued invitations to a number of political leaders to the swearing on of JD(S)' HD Kumaraswamy as Yeddyurappa's successor.

Hours after Yeddyurappa resigned as chief minister of Karnataka, the Congress has issued invitations to a number of political leaders to the swearing on of JD(S)' HD Kumaraswamy as Yeddyurappa's successor.

The Rahul Gandhi-led party has reportedly issued invitations to the following leaders (a number of whom have issued statements after the events in Karnataka):

1. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati

2. Samajwadi Party (SP) chief and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, with whom Rahul Gandhi had allied for the UP Elections in 2017

3. NCP leader and former Maharashtra chief minister Sharad Pawar. The NCP had lashed out at Rahul Gandhi when he announced that he would be Prime Minister after the 2019 Lok Sabha elections

4. Telangana chief minister and TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao

5. West Bengal chief minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee

6. Andhra Pradesh chief minister and TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu

7. DMK chief MK Stalin

8. Former Bihar chief minister and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav who is out on bail for six weeks on medical grounds after being convicted and jailed in a total of four Fodder Scam cases

9. Rashtriya Lok Dal chief Ajit Singh.

Kumaraswamy confirmed a number of these invites while addressing the media after staking his claim to form a government in Karnataka.
