Dog Lover Vladimir Putin Receives Alabai Puppy As Birthday Present From Turkmenistan President

Thinking about gifting ideas can turn out to be a harrowing task and more so when the person in question is one of the most powerful men in the world. What could u gift to someone who probably has everything one can think of. Well, Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow got it sorted for us. Turkmenistan President on Wednesday presented Russian President Vladimir Putin with a top puppy breed as a belated birthday gift.

Before talks with Vladimir Putin on Wednesday, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow said, “We have a common friend - this is the world’s unique alabai dog. And today I brought this little alabai with me. ” He then pulled the adorable puppy out of a portable cage and holding it up by the scruff of its neck.

Putin who looked visibly elated with the cute and thoughtful gift reached for the puppy as soon as he got a glimpse of it , took it in his arms and kissed on his forehead.

The thoughtful gift also holds significance as the Turkmenistan president is keen to recover lost Russian markets for Turkmen gas. Russia, once the main buyer of Turkmen gas, stopped buying the fuel last year due to a price dispute. China, with its growing appetite for energy, is now the main market for Turkmen. The two leaders held talks at the Black Sea resort of Sochi, on the sidelines of a summit of ex-Soviet states.

Vladimir Putin who is an avid dog lover, turned 65 over the weekend. The alabai pup “Verny”, which is Russian for “faithful” got added to the litter of canines Putin has received as gifts.  

In the past also Putin had received puppies of rare breeds as gifts from other foreign leaders including those of Japan and Bulgaria.

The Russian leader also has been gifted horses and even a tiger.
