Out of favour Indian left-arm fast bowler RP Singh called for his own death on microblogging site twitter by tweeting something really funny about firecrackers. Earlier this week, the Supreme Court of India prohibited the sale of crackers in Delhi-NCR which led to various opinions from all quarters. While some favoured the decision that will save the environment from pollution, others argued that ban on crackers would take away the basic essence of celebrating Diwali.
By the looks of RP Singh’s tweet on the issue, it seems that the bowler is not pleased with the court’s decision. In what came out as hilarious for the twitterati, Singh asked, “I have old crackers in my house. Can I burn those or that is also banned? #FireCrackersBan”. What followed were trolls by dozens.
Here are a few which stood out – “please light it on your ass and be the dragon warrior,” “That's the dumbest tweet I have seen......,“Use your head just a little bit, read and understand that the current world is headed to an environmental disaster,” “Here's RP's inswinging Yorker of words.....lol.”
Earlier, veteran batsman Yuvraj Singh had made a request to not burst crackers and celebrate a peaceful Diwali.
“Sincere request from my side to all of you this year… coming from the heart, don’t burst firecrackers this Diwali. The condition that our country landed in last year… the pollution, the air that we were breathing was devastating,” Yuvraj said in a video.
“I could not get out of my house because the air was so polluted. It was unhealthy, it was unnatural… for our kids, friends, parents, for the sake of everyone it is very important (that) we all take responsibility this year. It is a celebration of lights, festival of lights, let us all light diyas instead of (fire) crackers, spread love, peace and happiness,” he added.
