And it's the last day of Wimbledon 2017. 128 gentlemen had entered the draw. Only two remain. One of them is greatest tennis player of all time. Roger Federer would look to add another chapter to his already glorious career. He is in his 11th Wimbledon final, and ould be looking to improve Pete Sampras' record of winning 7 titles at the grass court Grand Slam. Federer has reached the final without dropping a set. and looks set to win the trophy which he last won 5 years ago.

Across the net from his would be Marin Cilic, who was two sets up against Federer at Wimbledon last year, but somehow just couldn't win. He has a win against Federer though, at the US Open in 2014. But this year, Federer is much more confident, and more significantly, much more fearless. Can the Croat survive a Federer attack? We'll find out soon.

The last time these two met at Wimbledon, this happened

Federer came back from two sets down to win the match. He even saved match points in the fourth set.

If Federer wins it, it will be an unprecedented eighth title for the Swiss.

Cilic holds, but not before some resistance from Federer. The game went to deuce, but Cilic did manage to get it done. Federer would be happy with the way things have begun.

Both players have begun with fairly good return games. Getting three points each on the opponents' serve. Is this the signs of nerves early on?

This is how the finalists have fared so far in the Championships

The Centre Court has some popular guests today. And some not-so-popular ones too.

11: 02 IST, July 16th 2017

Cilic gets the first break point of the match. But Federer saves it. And then sends a second serve right into Cilic's body to win the game after being 30-40 down.

2-2 in the first set.

Looks like Federer is getting into the groove here. Has an easy service game where he holds at love.

4-2 now in the first set.

Cilic had the first break point, Federer has the first break. Cilic was 0-40 down and then just had too much ground to cover. Saved two break points, but Federer converted on the third.

The game also had this incredible backhand from Federer

Can he consolidate now?

11: 02 IST, July 16th 2017

From now on, every time Federer steps on the Centre Court in the future would be a record. Sounds about right!

Yes, that is Marin Cilic's box. You can't blame them, though. It's hard not to be a Federer fan.

11: 02 IST, July 16th 2017

36 minutes into the match, Federer breaks Cilic again and converts his second set point to take the first set 6-3.

And Federer keeps the momentum going. He holds at love to keep Cilic on the ropes. His first serve percentage has been an incredible 75% today.

11: 02 IST, July 16th 2017

Federer is pushing Cilic out here. He's broken the Croat in his first service game to lead 2-0 in the second set. Cilic needs to come up with something special if he wants to stay in the match.

It's looking like the end of the road for Cilic. Federer had two break point opportunities in the game, converted the second to lead 5-1. Will now serve for the set.

Just a quick stat to help you understand how dominant Federer has been on his serve. He has won 86% of his first serve points and an even more incredible 100% second serve points.

Pretty anti-climactic final this until now. Can Cilic come up with something special?

Federer had three break points in that service game. But Cilic made good use of his height and power to save each one of them. Leads 2-1.

Can he keep the intensity going?

He closes it out with an ace. Grand Slam number 19 and Wimbledon number 8 for Roger Federer.

Cilic was just no match for the Swiss champion today. Federer wins the Wimbledon without dropping a set. It's been 14 years since he first won it in 2003. And he's still there, dominating men's tennis this year, at the age of 35 like it's no big deal.
