In an otherwise serious debate and issue, a light moment from Republic TV’s Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami’s #RafaleDramaFlops Debate on January 4 night has gone viral on social media. In a moment that left everyone on the panel and several viewers in splits, Arnab took away Senior Journalist Ashutosh’s phone mid-debate.
Amidst a heated discussion on facts on Rafale, The Debate with Arnab took a lighter turn as the guests burst out laughing. Read on to know why.
On The Debate at 9, Arnab and his panel were discussing a point on pricing and procedure of the Rafale deal in the context of what the Supreme Court judgement said.
Seated near Arnab, Ashutosh was quoting an article from his phone. Arnab, on the live debate, took it away. What followed was riotous laughter in the studio. Ashutosh claimed he was reading the Supreme Court judgement from an article and was making the point that in his view the top court had not given the deal a clean chit. That’s when Arnab plucked the phone out of Ashutosh’s hand and began reading from the same article. Then Arnab used the same article to casually counter Ashutosh by reading the headline which read: “Rafale Deal: SC rules out probe, says ‘court is completely satisfied with the decision-making process’”.
From running across the studio with the phone to fun banter, the entire studio was laughing out loud.
After various interventions from BJP Spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia and ANI Editor Smita Prakash, and Arnab who couldn’t stop roaring with laughter, the argument ended with Ashutosh admitting that, ‘this is the funniest debate’.
Viewers on social media weighed in on the fun that cracked them up.
The panel included- BJP Spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia, ANI Editor Smita Prakash, Scientist & Author Anand Ranganathan, NCP Spokesperson Sanjay Tatkare, senior journalist Ashutosh and more.
