The coming years will see BMW focusing on expanding and enhancing its current line up with significant upgrades and new editions, a report regarding the German carmaker's upcoming plans has revealed

In the electric segment alone, BMW plans to roll out a dozen full-electric vehicles by the middle of the next decade.

BMW will introduce the iNEXT battery-electric crossover as well as the i4 four-door electric coupe by 2021. Apart from that, the company will also begin manufacturing the battery-electric variant of the X3 crossover in 2020.

The most awaited in the line-up, BMW's large crossover X7 will hit the market in the US early next year.

Here are some of the cars that BMW has lined up

The Sedans

2-Series:

A new four-door variant of the 2-series Gran Coupe is expected to hit the markets, sporting front- and all-wheel-drive options, in the first-half of 2020.

The car is likely to be built on a platform that is based on the Mini line-up and the smaller 1-series sedan. The new coupe will be sold globally and is likely to be offered with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

3-Series:

Coming up in the first quarter of 2019, BMW will launch the redesigned 3-series sedan that would replace the 3-series Gran Tourismo. A performance-oriented M-Trim will also be launched by the company in the latter-half of the year.

The EVs

The i3:

A new generation of the compact battery-electric car which witnessed a minor face-lift in 2017 is expected to arrive in the first half of 2024.

The 4-Series

Both the coupe and the convertible will undergo major design upgrades. The Coupe will be launched in the second half of 2020 while the convertible will roll out in the first half of 2021. Additionally, the line-up will also see an inclusion of a mild-hybrid (48 volts) version of the 4-series.

The i4

The all-electric vehicle is likely to be launched in the early half of 2021 with an expected range of range of nearly 482 kilometers on a full charge. The four-door coupe is based on the iVision dynamics concept that was unveiled in September last year at the Frankfurt Auto Show.

The iNEXT:

Previously known as the i5, the electric model will now be morphed into the new iNEXT. According to the company, the battery-electric crossover will hit the market in the second half of 2021. The EV is likely to have a semi-autonomous driving system with a range of nearly 498 kilometers on a full charge.
