Top 5 passenger vehicle OEMs with highest sales in September 2024: Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, more

PV sales in September: The passenger vehicle segment saw a decline in sales in September 2024. As per the data released by the Federation of Automotive Dealers Association (FADA), the passenger vehicle segment saw a decline of 18.81 per cent on a year-on-year basis. The segment also saw a decline of 10.81 per cent on a month-on-month basis. This decline was attributed to the alarming trend of declining consumer demand and deteriorating market sentiment by the regulatory body.
FADA President, Mr. C S Vigneshwar said, “ In the PV category, sales plummeted by 10.8% MoM and 18.81% YoY. Seasonal factors such as Shraddh and Pitrapaksha, coupled with heavy rainfall and a sluggish economy, have exacerbated the situation. ”
Let us look at the top five OEMs with the highest sales in September 2024.
Maruti Suzuki secured the first position in retail sales in September 2024. The company recorded total sales of 1,13,560 units in the previous month, marking a decline of 27,578 units as compared to September 2023. Simply put, Maruti Suzuki registered a decline of 24.44 per cent on a year-on-year basis. As far as the market share is concerned, Maruti Suzuki recorded a market share of 41.19 per cent in September 2024.
Hyundai Motors
The second position was secured by Hyundai Motors. The manufacturer recorded total sales of 37,973 units in September, registering a decline of 12,660 units as compared to the same month the previous year. This marked a decline of 33.33 per cent on a year-on-year basis. Hyundai recorded a market share of 13.77 per cent in this period.
Mahindra & Mahindra
Mahindra & Mahindra surpassed Tata Motors and secured the third position on the list. The company recorded total sales of 34,607 units in September, witnessing a marginal growth. It recorded a surge of 136 units as compared to Septmeber 2023, making a growth of 0.39 per cent on a year-on-year basis. Mahindra recorded a market share of 12.55 per cent in September 2024.
Tata Motors
The fourth position was secured by Tata Motors in September 2024. The automaker recorded total sales of 31,947 units in September, falling short of 7,567 units in September 2023, marking a decline of 23.68 per cent on a year-on-year basis. Tata Motors recorded a market share of 11.59 per cent in September.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor
Toyota Kirloskar Motor recorded a growth in sales in September 2024. The manufacturer recorded total sales of 19,660 units, witnessing a surge of 815 units as compared to September 2023, marking in a growth of 4.14 per cent on a year-on-year basis. Toyota recorded a market share of 7.13 per cent in September.
