Bengaluru: The Karnataka Assembly on Thursday passed a resolution opposing the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), advocating instead for an alternative examination process based on the Common Entrance Test (CET) system. The resolution was tabled by Sharan Prakash Patil, the State Minister for Medical Education and Skill Development.

During the assembly session, BJP members voiced strong opposition to the resolution. However, despite their objections, the resolution was approved by the House with limited attention to the dissenting views. The decision highlights a significant push by the state government to seek a more localized and potentially equitable examination system for students aspiring to enter the medical field.
