Chhattisgarh Government Extends Summer Vacation for Schools Until June 25 Due to Scorching Heat

Raipur: In response to the severe heatwave conditions affecting the state, the Chhattisgarh government has extended the summer vacation for all schools until June 25. This decision was announced by the state's school education department in an order issued late Sunday evening.

The move aims to safeguard students' health amid the extreme temperatures. On Sunday, Raipur and Rajnandgaon recorded maximum temperatures of around 39 degrees Celsius. Other regions also faced high temperatures, with Pendra at 40.2 degrees Celsius, Bilaspur at 30.8 degrees Celsius, Ambikapur at 32.6 degrees Celsius, and Jagdalpur at 35.2 degrees Celsius.

The initial summer break, which began on April 22, was supposed to end on June 15. However, due to the ongoing heatwave, the government decided to extend the vacation by ten more days. Schools are now scheduled to reopen on June 26.

Additionally, the Meteorological Centre in Raipur has forecasted thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds at isolated places across the state over the next four days. These conditions are expected to facilitate the further advancement of the southwest monsoon into more parts of the state within the next four to five days.

The Chhattisgarh government's proactive measure ensures the well-being of students during these extreme weather conditions. Parents and students are advised to stay updated on further announcements and take necessary precautions to stay safe during this period.
