IN-SPACe (Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre) , alongside ISRO and prominent academic institutions, has introduced an extensive short-term course aimed at enhancing skill development within the space sector. Focused on Orbital Mechanics, Attitude Dynamics and Control, Space-Based Navigation, and Mission Planning, this comprehensive program offers hands-on experience in various aspects of space technology. The second five-day residential session commenced on December 17, 2023, at the ISRO Guest House in Devanahalli, Bengaluru.

Dr. Vinod Kumar, Director of the Promotion Directorate at IN-SPACe, emphasized that this initiative serves as a platform for learning, aligning with the government's vision for the space sector. The course content is strategically designed to train participants in crafting a satellite's core functions, such as the on-board computer and systems enabling autonomous operations in space. The program aims to empower individuals with the necessary expertise to make substantial contributions to India's space missions and foster the growth of the upcoming generation of space specialists.

Curated and executed by IN-SPACe, the course incorporates seasoned faculty members from ISRO, esteemed academic institutions, and industry experts. Integrating theoretical knowledge with practical skills, the short-term program equips participants with fundamental principles crucial for mission planning, execution, and optimization in the realm of space missions.

This inclusive course caters to academicians, industry professionals, graduates, post-graduates, and researchers. Participants will delve into comprehensive learning, gaining insights into mission profile development, launch window optimization, and tackling the intricate challenges inherent in space missions.

The curriculum's focal point is to furnish attendees with essential foundational principles and hands-on exposure pivotal for planning and optimizing space missions. Modules encompass Mission Planning, Design, Simulation, and Analysis; Orbital Dynamics and Mission Planning; Space-Based Navigation with an emphasis on NavIC as a sensor; Sensors, Attitude Estimation, Dynamics, and Control; Spacecraft Autonomy and On-board Software Development; and Proximity Operations.

Immersive sessions led by the ANSYS Team will cover Spacecraft Orbit Modeling and Spacecraft Simulation Environment, while the MathWorks India team will delve into the practical aspects of AI for space applications using MATLAB.
