Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu has brought back the EVM issue yet again. He has said also raked up the transfer of cops and officers following the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections.
Naidu has said that the level playing field is being violated, and has alleged that the Election Commission is working under Modi-led Centre. He also alleged that 30% of EVMS are not working and asked that 50% VVPAT must be checked.
Naidu made the statements after approaching the EC with these and several other complaints.
"The Opposition had complained earlier that the government is destroying institutions, the CBI, ED, RBI, I-T, and now the EC. The basic principal of a democracy, of a level playing field, is being violated. The opposition parties have reservations on EVMs.The government of India is interfering through the Election Commission. We have complained against the EVMs earlier also. The EC is an autonomous body but they are working at the instructions of Modi."
"Even before the elections' notifications, they transferred one of our collectors, our two SPs were transferred. The transfers of officers in Andhra Pradesh is unjustified. THe NSA, cabinet chief secretary, IB are doing politics."
"There is a large scale deletion of votes here. In 7.5 lakh voters were deleted. In Telangana, there is deletion of 25 lakh voters. They did not get relief from the court The CEO said sorry after elections. How does it matter now?".
"We are not satisfied with Election Commission assurance .. we want VVPAT counting: We are asking how much time they will take for 50 per cent VVPAT counting. We ask President of India to take action".
