As 2019 Lok Sabha Elections Begin, Here's What Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu Said After Casting His Vote

While the first phase of the 2019 elections have begun in the country for 91 parliamentary constituencies, politicians all around the nation are casting their vote and appealing to the voters to go to the polling booths to exercise their right to vote in the largest festival of democracy.

On Thursday, hours after polling began in the country, N. Chandrababu Naidu, CM of Andhra Pradesh cast his vote and talked to the media saying that he is hopeful but does not want to make any seat predictions lest he trigger controversy. 

After casting his vote along with his family for Lok Sabha Elections 2019 in Amravati, Naidu said:

"I am hopeful. I don't want to comment on seats right now. I don't want to make a controversial remark."

Chandrababu Naidu, 68, served as Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh between 1995 and 2004. He has been Andhra Pradesh's CM since 2014, when Telangana was created and is seeking another term in the state. 

After concluding the election campaign on April 10, Minister for Rural Development in his government Lokesh Nara (also Chandrababu Naidu's son) shared a light picture of his on Twitter:

'Special category status for Andhra Pradesh' is the main issue around which election campaign ran in the state in past few months. The demand for special status also saw the TDP break away from the NDA in 2018 after almost two decades as part of the alliance. 

YSRCP is the main opposition in the state against Chandrababu Naidu. YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy also spoke to the media before casting his vote from his family bastion of Pulivendula in Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh. He said:

"Very confident, with Gods grace it will go well, I am pretty sure people are looking for a change. My message is  - vote for change vote without fear."

Elections are taking place in all the 25 Lok Sabha seats of Andhra Pradesh and the state is also simultaneously polling for the 175 assembly seats.
