In a shocking incident in the Andhra Pradesh on Thursday, YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy's supporters gheraoed Andhra Pradesh Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao's car as he was exiting a hospital in Sattenapalle, Guntur.  The supporters climbed onto Rao’s car and broke the window panes of his car as the car drove on.

Earlier in the morning, as per reports, while on rounds around his constituency to monitor the polling situation as the assembly elections commenced in the state, the Speaker had reportedly gone inside a polling booth and then shut it down, infuriating YSRCP supporters. They then had gheraoed him and manhandled him causing him to faint, following which he was taken to hospital.

The visuals shown in the above video are of him leaving the hospital at which point the YSRCP supporters gheraoed him again and broke the window panes of his car.

Rao is the current MLA of Sattenapalle constituency and is seeking re-election in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly polls which are underway on Thursday concurrently with the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections. Guntur is a highly contested area due to its proximity to Amravati which is Andhra Pradesh's capital region.

This incident has been one among the many violent clashes in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday. Earlier in the day, in a shocking incident, two TDP (Telugu Desam Party) workers were killed following a clash with YSRCP activists in Andhra Pradesh's Anantapur district, while polling was in progress. The incident took place near the polling booth No.197 at Veerapuram in Tadipatri constituency of Anantapur district, a stronghold of former TDP MP JC Diwakar Reddy. His son Pawan Kumar Reddy is contesting on TDP ticket for the seat this election. 

Prior to this, a clash had broken out between YSRCP and TDP workers in Puthalapattu Constituency in Bandarlapalli, Andhra Pradesh following which the AP Police resorted to lathi-charge to control the situation. YSRCP candidate Kodali Nani and TDP candidate Venkatramarao had almost come to blows.

Earlier, in Gooty which is in Ananthapur district in Andhra Pradesh, Janasena Party MLA candidate Madhusudhan Gupta damaged an EVM by throwing it on the floor. He disrupted the electoral process in a polling booth, saying that he was angry that candidates names weren't displayed properly. 

Andhra Pradesh is voting on Thursday for all 175 assembly seats and 25 Lok Sabha seats.

The Lok Sabha elections are being held in seven phases throughout the country from April 11 to May 19, and the results of the polls will be declared on May 23.
