2019 Lok Sabha election results for Arunachal Pradesh: BJP's dominance in the state continues with the party winning both seats

Campaign and Controversy

While the Congress in the state has promised  ₹5,000 per month for every graduate unemployed youth, the BJP has used issues of national security and the recently launched  Arun Prabha channel, the 24th Doordarshan satellite channel that will show the culture of Arunachal to rest of the country.

In Aalo, the Prime Minister in his campaign had said that the“ the grand old party is synonymous with corruption” and that “Arunachal is lucky for the BJP. In the northeast, the lotus first bloomed in Arunachal Pradesh. It is because of your support, the Centre has been able to bring about development in the state.”

In the state capital - Itanagar, Congress President Rahul Gandhi promised to introduce the special category status for the state.

In an election controversy, Arunachal Pradesh Catholic Association (APCA) had issued a 'prayer petition' in which they had urged the Catholics in the state to vote for Congress candidate Nabam Tuki. However, after Republic TV newsbreak, EC send a showcause notice to APCA following which association withdrew the notice and issued an apology to the CEO and the public of the state over the controversy.

A similar controversy raked up in the state when the Arunachal Pradesh Christian Revival Church Council (APCRCC) had issued an order in support of NPP candidate Kyoda Apik. The order urged the APCRCC, entire Christian community and all the concerned district Councils to vote for Kyoda Apik.

2014 General Elections

In a tie, Congress won one seat and BJP won one seat in the state.

Arunachal West (Arunachal Pradesh): Union Minister and one of the most popular faces in the Modi government, Kiren Rijiju seeking re-election from this seat won against former Arunachal Pradesh CM Nabam Tuki.
