Assam chief minister and BJP leader Sarbananda Sonowal spoke to Republic TV's Aniruddha Bhakat during his campaign for the Lok Sabha elections in Barak valley in the state.

The BJP leader spoke about the mood of the state and the changes in the region after Central government was elected to power.

"The mood is very clear. Now, people have decided to vote for BJP and its allies. In the last five years of honourable Prime Minister's regime, everything has been made possible, particularly in the development sector, growth has been witnessed by the people of the government and people have got quality government. Congress has failed despite its 55 years of regime. Barak valley was the most neglected zone in the Congress regime and they exploited it. Since Modi ji has come to there are roads, bridges, communication...," he said.

He also spoke about the agenda of his party for the elections. "Development and social security, and economic upliftment of all sections of the society. we have seen drastic changes in the ground, also the creation of medical, technical institutions," he said

About receiving criticism on the National Register of Citizens (NRC) Bill from a section of society:

"It was Congress and the Leftist parties and a section of intellectuals who had misled people of the state. The criticism was based on false propaganda. Now people have realised the reality as the government is clear and transparent about the Bill as they know before bringing it we will arrive at a consensus with the people of Assam and tag everybody along. The character of Congress has been exposed," he said.
