Reacting to the trends in the five-state assembly election results 2018, which is showing the Congress party leading in crucial Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress(TMC) Chief Mamata Banerjee addressed a press briefing wherein she hit out at the BJP for misusing the government agencies and ruining the democracy, terming the assembly elections as the 'semi-final' to the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

"The game is clear. People have shown which side they are on. The countdown has started. It is the beginning of the end. The opposition is together. There are some parties which are not with the opposition. But ultimately they will have to take a decision. Like us, there are some regional parties which have a political compulsion. At the national level, we have the solidarity, but at the state level we are contesting alone. At the end of the day we are together. We gave full support to Congress. Mahagathbandhan wins the semi-final. BJP has been resolving to appeasement politics everywhere. In MP, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, BJP has failed miserably. They have ruined democracy and hence people gave an answer.BJP is unconstitutionally using the government agencies for their own motives. If other states will go to polls now, BJP will face miserable defeat," said the West Bengal chief while addressing the media.
