In an exclusive interview with Republic TV, Congress Candidate for Patna Sahib constituency Shatrughan Sinha, on Friday, has said that the 'one-man army' functioning of the Modi government is the reason for his disapproval for the Modi government.

"If praise is given to the captain, then criticism will also be given to the captain. You know that you are a one-man show and a two-man army. All the work is done by PMO and all ministers are of no use," he said.

When asked if Sinha's disappointment for not being offered a ministerial post was the reason for his exodus from BJP, he said:

"This is just attributing an agenda to the act. Is LK Advani sad because he was not made President? Do you think all veterans like Murli Manohar Joshi, Arun Shourey, Yashwant Sinha are disappointed because of not getting minister post? Just as Lata Mangeshkar is known for singing, these leaders are known for their personalities only."

Slamming PM Modi for not fulfilling promises to farmers, unemployed youth and not clarifying the Rafale deal, he said that he could neither acquit not accuse the BJP of wrongdoing in the Rafale matter.

"Prime Minister Modi has not fulfilled many promises given to farmers. He has never mentioned the Swaminathan Commission report. He had promised farmers better prices, jobs to youth, smart cities, etc. They have not answered clearly on the Rafale deal. I can neither say that you are a suspect or innocent in the Rafale matter," he added.

WATCH: Hinting Obscurity Among The Opposition On PM Candidate, Shatrughan Sinha Says 'Rahul Gandhi Is Also One Of The Strongest Contender'

Earlier in the week, on being asked who does he support as PM candidate from the Opposition, Sinha said it is not about support but numbers. When asked specifically about Rahul Gandhi as PM candidate, he said:

"Rahul Gandhi is also a strong candidate(Rahul Gandhi bhi). He has proved himself. Congress won three states after he became the chief."

He then added:

"Akhilesh is a youth icon, even Mayawati can be PM, why not, Nitish Kumar can also be, but the thing is only who has numbers can be the PM. Writing on the wall says that Opposition will win. The opposition will decide, why is BJP worrying about it? We will decide after elections."

Two-time MP of Patna Sahib Shatrughan Sinha faces BJP's candidate and Union Mister of Law, Ravi Shankar Prasad. Patna Sahib will vote on May 19 along with Nalanda, Pataliputra, Arrah, Buxar, Sasaram, Kurakat and Jahanabad in Bihar. Results are scheduled on May 23.
