It seems that all is not well in the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). Sources have informed Republic TV that Lalu Prasad Yadav's elder son, Tej Pratap Yadav, might contest independently from the Saran constituency against his Father-in-law Chandrika Rai, who is a sitting RJD MLA.
This comes as another blow to RJD after Tej Pratap Yadav's resignation from the party’s student wing on Thursday and threat to quit the RJD.
He had tweeted his decision saying,” I am resigning from the post of Sanrakshak (mentor) of the Rashtriya Janata Dal’s student wing. Naïve are those who think I am naïve. I have information as to how much trouble each one is in.”
After Tej Pratap Yadav’s threat to quit RJD, the party called off a press conference.
Earlier, the Rashtriya Janata Dal on Monday announced its star campaigners list ahead of 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The list included Rabri Devi, Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav among others. However, sibling rivalry within Lalu Yadav's family came out in the open as sister Misa Bharti's name was missing from RJD star campaigners list.
RJD is contesting in 20 out 0f 40 Lok Sabha seats as per the seat-sharing pact announced by the grand alliance (Mahagathbandhan) on March 22.
Bihar will be voting in seven poll phases from April 11 to May 23.
