Union Minister and BJP's candidate from Patna Sahib, Bihar, Ravi Shankar Prasad spoke exclusively to Republic Media Network ahead of the counting of votes for the 17th Lok Sabha elections.

He said he was calm and confident about BJP winning in the polls. He said that under PM Narendra Modi's leadership, he was assured of a historic mandate for his party.

He even distributed laddoos about him winning from the seat.

"I am calm, we are the party's karyakarta and work with sincerity. I had told you since Day One that we will win with a historic mandate and we await its announcement... I am poised and confident that BJP will win with a historic mandate under Narendra Modi's leadership," he said.
 

Prasad will be facing veteran actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha who is contesting from Congress.

On the final phase of the elections on May 19, he had cast his vote at Patna Women's college. 

When asked about why the BJP is raising nationalist issues rather than basic issues, he had said: "We have always raised basic issues, but if someone asks the proof of martyrdom by Indian soldiers, then nationalism will come into play."

Talking about the difference between the NDA and the Opposition, he pointed out the lack of leadership and agenda in the Opposition saying:

"People look towards with a lot of faith. 2014's election was of hope, 2019 is that of faith. The fight is also based on polity, justice, and intentions. On one side is Modiji, Ram Vilas ji (Paswan) and us, on the other side - they neither know who leads them with no intention just an agenda - Remove Modi," he added
