In upward trouble for Shatrughan Sinha, Congress workers have staged a protest against the new party entrant in his Bihar's Patna Sahib constituency.
In visuals, it could be seen how Congress workers were protesting against their own candidate after he reached party headquarters in Patna for being absent during his term from his own sitting constituency.
The former rebel BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha who is fielded on the Patna Sahib seat on Congress' ticket this time was asked to remove from his candidature by the party workers.
Just a day after Shatrughan Sinha's wife Poonam Sinha joined a Samajwadi Party, ex-BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha accompanied his wife in Lucknow to file her nomination papers. He also joined the SP rally and campaigned for her, alongside Dimple Yadav.
While campaigning for his wife, Sinha said: "I and my family are always with you. We were always with you. We will be with you. Samajwadi Party zindabad, Bahujan Samaj Party zindabad. Lucknow zindabad, Uttar Pradesh zindabad."
He also added: "I am here not as a Congress leader but as a husband and surely I have the right to be by my wife's side at this time," he said. He also said that he would also campaign for his wife but not for any other non-Congress candidate.
In the first week of April, Shatrughan Sinha joined Congress after a long tussle with the BJP from where his political career began. Creating a controversy just two days before the second phase of elections, his wife Poonam Sinha joined the Samajwadi party in Lucknow. The Samajwadi Party and Congress are not allies in the upcoming elections.
While Shatrughan Sinha is pitted against the Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, his wife filed nomination against the Union Minister Rajnath Singh from Lucknow. However, Congress has nominated Acharya Pramod Krishnam as their candidate from Lucknow.
The BSP-SP alliance had refused to seal a deal with the Congress before the elections began as they said that Congress' votes do not get transferred to the gathbandhan.
