Adding to the rift within the Mahagathbandhan in Bihar after RJD chief Tejashwi Yadav skipped Congress president Rahul Gandhi's rally in Supaul district, an RJD leader has made a sensational statement.

RJD's Pipra MLA Yaduvansh Yadav said that that Congress' loss is RJD's win.

"Ranjeet Ranjan's (Congress candidate) defeat in Supaul is RJD's win in the district. If she is defetaed, then we will win. More the margin of her defeat, greater will the flag of RJD fly," he said while speaking to reporters.

As per sources, RJD wanted Congress to say Ranjeet Ranjan, wife of Pappu Yadav, to persuade her husband not to contest from Madhepura. Pappu Yadav who was elected in 2014 on RJD ticket was expelled by RJD supremo Lalu Yadav and then floated his Jan Adhikar Party Loktantrik and is contesting as an independent candidate from Madhepura. Meanwhile, Mahagathbandhan's Sharad Yadav has been given a ticket from the same constituency. In retaliation, RJD's Supaul district unit is supporting independent candidate Dinesh Yadav instead of Congress' Ranjeet Ranjan.

Apart from the Madhepura seat, the purported rift within the Mahagathbandhan had begun before the seat-sharing arrangement was finalised when the Congress wanted to contest from the Nalanda, Madhubani and Darbhanga seats, while the RJD and HAM wished to field their own candidates from the seats.

SCOOP: Rift In Bihar Mahagathbandhan As Tejashwi Declines Sharing Stage With Rahul Gandhi, Pappu Yadav Vs Sharad Yadav Contest The Purported Reason

While RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, leaving for his campaign in Khagaria district on Saturday, brushed aside the claims of rift in the Mahagathbandhan saying that all the leaders of the Mahagathbandhan are doing their best and campaigning at different places, the comment by RJD leader suggests otherwise.

"It is not possible for all to be at one stage. We have divided our responsibilities. In 2015, we were there in Gandhi Maidan last time. I will be there in the rally next time. There's not a big issue in it," Tejashwi said.

The BJP had raised questions over the absence of Tejashwi Yadav in the rallies of Rahul Gandhi in Bihar. Speaking to Republic TV, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that when PM Modi addresses rallies in Bihar, JD(U)'s Nitish Kumar and LJP's Ram Vilas Paswan are present which shows unity in the NDA. While the Mahagathbandhan is not united.
