As Bihar's Begusarai goes to polls, CPI candidate Kanhaiya Kumar, one of the most-watched candidates in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, takes on his contenders in the constituency after casting his vote in the fourth phase of Lok Sabha polls.
Speaking to media on the voting day on Monday, the CPI candidate from Begusarai asserted that the government has failed in doing its job due to which it is defaming its contenders. Adding that Begusarai is fighting for the agendas, Kumar went on to urge that the people in the constituency will defeat his contenders.
"The government has been unsuccessful in doing its job and that is why it is defaming its contenders. Those who are insulting Begusarai will face massive defeat in Begusarai. It will win. Begusarai is fighting for its respect, and its agendas. Kanhaiya will not defeat anyone, it will be the people of Begusarai who will defeat the contenders and the nation will see," Kanhaiya Kumar said after voting.
Later taking to Twitter, the CPI leader posted pictures of him voting at a polling centre in Begusarai.
A stronghold of BJP, Begusarai is witnessing a three battle in the Lok Sabha elections between BJP candidate Union Minister Giriraj Singh, CPI's Kanhaiya Kumar and RJD's Tanveer Hassan.
In the 2019 polls, CPI has fielded its youth icon Kanhaiya Kumar who will be making its electoral debut against Union Minister and sitting BJP MP Giriraj Singh. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the CPI had emerged on the third place in Begusarai, after the BJP-led NDA and Lalu Pradas Yadav-led RJD.
Meanwhile fourth phase of the 2019 polls is currently underway. Results will be declared on May 23.
