When reporters pointed out to him the goof--up, he said, it is ought to happen as it was BJP's foundation day.

BJP rebel Shatrughan Sinha had a slip of tongue during the event of his formal induction into Congress on Saturday. 

In a massive goof-up, he called Congress leader Shaktisinh Gohil the backbone of BJP.

"I would like to thank Surjewala ji, KC Venogopal ji, and backbone of the BJP Shaktisinh Gohil ji especially in Bihar and Gujarat."

When reporters pointed out to him the goof--up, he said, it is ought to happen as it was BJP's foundation day.

Ahead of joining the party officially, he tweeted about leaving the BJP adding that he does not hold ill will. He also praised the Congress and party chief Rahul Gandhi.

Sinha will be fighting the upcoming polls from his traditional seat 'Patna Sahib'. He is a two-term BJP Lok Sabha member from Patna Sahib.
