Counting of votes for 542 constituencies that went to polls in the seven-phased 2019 Lok Sabha polls is currently underway on May 23, and as per the latest trends (12:50 PM) by the Election Commission, BJP is leading in Chhattisgarh by 9 seats out of 11 seats in the state, with NDA leading in an astonishing 347 seats across India.
Responding to the development, former CM of Chhattisgarh and BJP leader Raman Singh said that this is a big victory for the party, adding that it is the blessing of people.
"We all worked under the guidance and leadership of PM Modi and Amit Shah. This is a big victory and a blessing of the people who wanted to see PM Modi come back to power," he said.
He further hit out at the current the Congress government in Chhattisgarh under the Chief Ministership of Bhupesh Baghel, which came to power in 2018 Assembly election, saying that people have come out of the illusion of the Congress party within four months of the government being in power.
"Talking about Congress' strategies, he said that the Congress party working opposite to the promises made by Bhupesh Bhaghel. The way there is fear and terror in Chhattisgarh, policies have been shut, this is a huge loss of the policies of the Congress party. The three rallies PM Modi addressed here changed the environment here. Amit Shah ji also kept giving his guidance. And this victory came because the people did not forget the earlier 15 years of governance. They have come out of the illusion of the Congress government in four months," Raman Singh added.
The fate of 166 contestants will be decided on May 23 as the counting of the votes began at 8 am. Chhattisgarh voted in the first three phases of Lok Sabha Elections 2019 on April 11, 19 and 23. The voting percentage in Chhattisgarh was recorded between 57-71 per cent in the three phases of national election 2019.
In 2014 Lok Sabha Polls, Chhattisgarh voter turnout was 69.4 per cent with the BJP sweeping 10 seats while the Congress winning one.
