In what continues to be a brazen display of Congress' dynastic politics, Ahmed Patel's son will be contesting from Faisal Patel from Bharuch for the Lok Sabha elections in Gujarat.
As per sources, Ahmed Patel's son, Faisal Patel will be given a ticket to fight from Bharuch in Lok Sabha.
Bharuch has been Ahmed Patel's constituency and he has been his pushing for his son to be given the Congress ticket for the polls during meetings with top Congress leaders, the sources have added.
Ahmed Patel has also asked the leader of Bharatiya Tribal Party Chhotubhai Vasava to step away from fighting from the constituency and choose any other tribal belt to contest from so that his son could win from Bharuch.
The Congress has suffered quite a lot of setbacks in the state ahead of Lok Sabha elections. All has not been well for the Congress in the state after Hardik Patel was inducted in the party.
Sources have said that since the time Hardik Patel joined the party, the power tussle between Gujarat Congress leader Alpesh Thakor and the Patidar leader has spiked.
There had already been a tussle going on between Alpesh Thakor and Hardik Patel to be made the face of Congress outside Gujarat - particularly in Maharashtra and Bihar. Following the confirmation of Hardik Patel joining Congress is when Alpesh had starting holding his own position hostage in the Congress.
Thakor has been bargaining a lot with Congress after Patel entered the party, said sources.
He had been trying to negotiate a deal with the top leaders when he went to Delhi amid rumours of him joining the BJP, the sources added. He had been trying to negotiate a post of being made in charge for Maharashtra as well. He had expressed wanting to be given a ticket for Patan. He had also asked for a ticket for his wife too, sources said.
