  • Surat Congress Chief, Baby Rayka has been caught on tape giving an abusive speech in public against the BJP on Thursday
  • This was in retaliation to Jitu Vagani- Gujarat BJP President's derogatory speech on Sunday

Countering abuse with abuse at a public rally in Surat on Thursday, Babu Rayka- the Surat Congress Chief was caught on tape using derogatory language against the BJP.

In his speech, he said that the Congress will not allow the BJP to threaten people of Gujarat and will fight BJP to the end for it.

“If BJP is trying to threaten the people of Surat then Congress will not let that happen.  We will oppose them by actively protesting. While high command has asked us me not to comment like this, I will still say that if these <expletive> of BJP try to beat us, we will still talk about Gandhian ways. We don’t have to fight in front of them, but we have to finish the – which is a fight to the end.” said Rayka.

During his speech, one of his aides did try to warn him of his language, but Rayka continued his tirade after a small pause.

This is not the first time a politician in Gujarat has used derogatory language in public. On Sunday, in a public rally, Gujarat BJP President, Jitu Vaghani had asked voters to identify those trying to destroy peace in the state, using profane language.

“I am telling the <expletive> of Congress that they cannot win in Surat and Gujarat. This is why you are trying to spread hatred and create chaos. Allow elections to take place peacefully. Let people vote for whom they want to. I want people to identify the forces harassing the citizens,” said Vaghani.

The Election Commision has already sought a report from the authorities regarding Vaghani's speech. He has defended himself by saying that he had referred to some Congress leaders as ‘illegitimate children’, and not said anything derogatory.

Gujarat is set to vote in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections in a single phase on April 23.

The Lok Sabha polling will take place in seven phases for all the 29 states and seven Union Territories beginning from April 11 to May 7, 2019. The results will be announced on May 23, 2019.
