In a shocking incident, Congress leader Hardik Patel was attacked and slapped by a man on Friday on the stage while he was addressing a rally in Gujarat. Identified as Tarun Gajjar, the man who slapped the Patidar leader, explained the reason to his actions, speaking to media on Friday afternoon.
Recalling the personal difficulties he faced due to Hardik Patel during the 2015 Patidar agitation, Tarun Gajjar alleged that he and his family had to face lot of suffering due to Patel.
"I was in the Patidar agitation of 2015. My wife was pregnant during that time and she was undergoing treatment at a hospital, I had faced problems then, I had decided then, I'll hit this man. I have to teach him a lesson anyhow," the man said speaking to reporters in the hospital.
Further, he also said that during one of Hardik Patel's rallies in Gujarat, he found every shop had been shut down, when he went to get medicine for his child.
"During his (Hardik Patel's) rally in Ahmedabad when I had gone to get medicine for my child, everything was shut down. He shuts down the roads, he shuts down Gujarat whenever he wants to, What is he? Gujarat's Hitler?" he added.

He's currently admitted to hospital following the attack on him in the aftermath of the incident.
Tarun Gajjar attacked Hardik Patel when was addressing the rally in Gujarat's Surendranagar from on top of a stage, with other leaders seated behind him. He walked up to him on stage from his right with a paper in his hand, and attacked him before he had a chance to move away.
Meanwhile, Hardik Patel has registered a formal police complaint about the physical attack against him in Surendranagar, Gujarat. However, Hardik's team has also claimed that the attack was a part of a BJP plot to cause him grievous injury, ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.
Gujarat's Lok Sabha constituencies will go to the polls in a single phase (Phase three) on April 23.
