Thanking the leader and the face of BJP's 2019 Lok Sabha election campaign PM Narendra Modi for giving the NDA a sweeping majority as per early results, Union Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj has expressed her heartfelt gratitude towards the country's citizens.

Early results have seen the NDA leading in 327 seats while its major rival UPA was leading in just 107 seats as of 11:30 AM.

2019 Lok Sabha Election Results: Leading In Asansol, Babul Supriyo Says "Democracy Is Winning In Bengal' Amid Vote-counting

Earlier, talking to  Republic Media Network Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami, even as reports of BJP MP Babul Supriyo leading in Asansol emerged on Thursday, Supriyo himself expressed his happiness on the favourable result calling it a victory for democracy.

"Democracy is winning. In all our meeting discussing Trinamool's exit polls failing has come true. We are leading by almost 36,000 votes after second and third round polling," said Supriyo.

Apart from him, Union Minister and BJP's candidate from Jaipur rural Col Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore spoke to the media expressing his exuberance over the party's performance and credited PM Narendra Modi for the success.

"Our ideology is about nationalism and making everyone strong. The party has served every citizen of the country. The credit goes to the leader, PM Modi," he said.

With high-pitched and intense election campaigning, the 2019 polls spanned seven phases across two months, ended on May 19, witnessing the Election Commission handling 22.3 lakh ballot units, 17.3 lakh VVPATs and 16.3 lakh control units. An estimated 67.11 percent voters turned up to cast their votes in this year's elections, which is among the highest-ever turnouts recorded in any parliamentary poll in India since its Independence.
