The BJP has released its manifesto on Monday in the presence of top party leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and its chief Amit Shah. This was described by the party in its "Sankalp Patra".
In 2014, the promise made by BJP was to empower the youth for self-employment. In response, by Dec 2018- 2 Crore jobs have been created in a short span of 16 months.
In a view to ensure clean governance, BJP had promised to -Track down & bring back black money. To keep up this promise, the BJP undertook a mega crackdown on corruption- be it the demonitsation or the recent extradition efforts to get back fraudulent economic offenders.
To help mitigate the agrarian crisis in India, the BJP promised to introduce the Farm Insurance scheme to check crop loss. Putting it in action, the government has implemented the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana which provides insurance coverage and financial support to the farmers in the event of failure of any of the notified crop as a result of natural calamities, pests & diseases.
To curb the rampant crimes against women, the BJP vowed to make stricter laws for women safety. In response, the Nirbahya Fund set up in 2013, was put into action by setting up 1,023 fast track courts in 2018, to dispose off pending cases of rape of children and women. Along with this, the death penalty clause was passed on April 2018, in an ordinance which allowed the death penalty for the rape of children younger than 12 years.
In order to settle the Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute which has been raging on since 1992, the BJP promised to find a consensus among all affected parties within the constitutional framework. This was put in action by the Supreme Court which has ordered mediation by a 3-Member panel consisting of Justice Khalifa (retd), Spiritual Guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and senior advocate Sriram Panchu in March 2019.
On coming to power in 2014, the BJP had promised to speed up defence acquisitions & reforms. The country's new policy on defence was evident from how terrorist attacks were replied to in a manner that had not happened earlier, as demonstrated by the Surgical strike post the Uri terror attack and the Balakot airstrikes after the Pulwama terror attack, in which the armed forces were given a free hand to operate. Another major boost to the armed forces was the focus on Make in India and the deliverance of OROP (One Rank One Pension).
The BJP's Manifesto focuses on building on the work of the last five years by focusing on good governance, national security, infrastructure, health, growth in the economy, farmers etc.
The polling for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections will take place in seven phases for all the 29 states and seven Union Territories beginning from April 11 to May 7, 2019. The results will be announced on May 23, 2019.
