Slamming CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury on his remark that 'religious epics Ramayana and Mahabharata are specimens of Hindu violence,' Baba Ramdev said that he along with other Sadhus has filed an FIR against him so that no one insults the tradition of India.

On Saturday, Swami Ramdev and other Sadhus gathered in Haridwar and addressed the media and Ramdev said:

"Sitaram Yechury should ask forgiveness from the entire Hindu society. He has not only insulted the great Mahabharata and Ramanyana, but he has also insulted thousand-year of Vedic civilisation, culture, nature and Indian tradition. India's tradition, Ramayana, Mahabharata taught togetherness, coexistence, harmony, friendship, love, kindness, justice, we have taught the way of the truth, we have considered the whole world a family, we cannot even think of quarreling, we consider quarreling also as an evil thing. In our Mahabhatra, Ramayana, Geeta, one thing that has been mentioned maximum times is the advice to not quarrel."

He then continued: "Dharmayudh is there but it is to end evil, to protect justice and truth, there is a difference between bravery and evil. Dharmayudh is by those who end evil. Yechury cannot speak against Islam against Christianity. If he has so much problem with Ramayana and Mahabharat then he should first change his name. After this press briefing, we all Sadhus will go and file a collective FIR against him."

Taking to Twitter, he had earlier written: "In order to expand their empire, Communists, Christians, and Mughals killed 50 crore innocent people. Will Sitaram Yechury will dare to call it atrocity and violence?"

CPM leader Sitaram Yechury attacked the BJP for fragmenting the society for votes through its divisive policies, branding religious epics Ramayana and Mahabharata as specimens of Hindu violence.

"Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur said that Hindus don't believe in violence. Many kings and principalities have fought battles in the country. Even the Ramayana and Mahabharata are also filled with instances of violence. Being a pracharak, you narrate the epics but still claim Hindus can't be violent? What is the logic behind saying there is a religion which engages in violence & we Hindus don't," he said.
