Responding to Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu's 'frog' jibe, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said that he why is he making fun of an Odia surname. He slammed Sidhu by asking him if he can do the same with surnames of any other state.
Making fun of Patra in a press conference, the Punjab leader targeted Patra saying "What's his name? Tinku Tatra or Patra, that frog who keeps doing trr, trr. Why give him importance? "
Earlier, Sidhu had said during a rally in Indore in Madhya Pradesh:
"Congress is the party that gave freedom to the country, it is the party of Maulana Azad & Mahatma Gandhi. They had given freedom from the British, now will give the people of Indore the freedom from Kaale Angrez," he said.
Patra then took to Twitter and said:
Sidhu ridicules my surname saying ..Who was he patra tatra ..Oh ho Patra ..who does trr trr like a frog ... He could always target me ..but why a “Odiya” surname? ..can he do the same with surnames of any other state ..NO ..just because Odiyas are simple people ridicule even their surnames?"
He also slammed the leader on his 'Kaale angrez jibe', saying:
"He will dare not say who was he “Maino” ..faino ..Ohh Antonio Maino.. Rather He will ridicule Indians calling them “Kale Angrez” & Indian Surnames ...Sidhu ji if you have strength then make fun of an Italian surname once.."
Earlier reacting to Sidhu's kaale angrez jibe, RP Singh, BJP's national secretary spoke to Republic TV and asked the poll body to take action against the Punjab minister.
"Congress cannot accept anyone else to rule the country but the Gandhi dynasty. As per the Model Code of Conduct, you cannot ask for votes on the basis of caste, creed, colour and religion. I hope the Election Commission takes notice of the comment and takes action," he said.
