Controversial Godman, former Bigg Boss contestant Swami Om to contest against AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal from New Delhi

Controversial self-proclaimed godman Swami Om on Sunday said he will contest the Lok Sabha elections from the New Delhi constituency.

A former Bigg Boss contestant, Swami Om, in a statement said he will fight against the "anti-Hindu" stance of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who had put out a tweet depicting his party symbol, a broom, chasing a "Hindu swastika".

The statement said several Hindu organisations held a meeting on Saturday and finalised his name.

Controversy broke on Wednesday after Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal shared a picture showing a man using a broom, which is his party's symbol, literally chasing away Nazi symbol - a Swastika. 

He posted the picture with the caption saying 'Someone sent this...'

BJP leaders including party's Delhi chief Manoj Tiwari also lashed out at Arvind Kejriwal for allegedly 'hurting the sentiments of the Hindus' through the picture.

Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party on Sunday clarified that the picture of a man chasing the Nazi symbol with a broom shared by party supremo Arvind Kejriwal was an "attack" on German dictator Adolf Hitler and not intended to hurt Hindu sentiments.

The opposition party claimed that the picture, shared by Kejriwal on March 20, showed a man chase a "Hindu swastika" with a broom. 

The AAP, in a statement, alleged that the BJP was propagating a false narrative against the party by claiming that it had hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus. The tweet was simply an attack on Hitler and his way of operating, the AAP said.
