AAP's East Delhi candidate Atishi on Thursday alleged that her opponent Gautam Gambhir circulated pamphlets that questioned her morals contained objectionable and deeply offensive remarks about her.

Addressing a press briefing in the matter, Atishi broke down while reading the content of the pamphlet, following which posed one question at BJP's Gautam Gambhir.

"I have only one question for Gautam Gambhir. If he is doing this to win the elections against one woman who is contesting against him, then what will do for the lakhs of women in east Delhi who are worried about their safety," she added.

AAP convener and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal further tweeted that he "Never imagined Gautam Gambhir to stoop so low. How can women expect safety if people wid such mentality are voted in?"

However, minutes after AAP's allegation, Gautam Gambhir took to Twitter and claimed to withdraw his nomination if proven to be guilty in the matter. Furthermore, he unsparingly challenged the AAP chief to quit politics if he fails to prove the same. The cricketer-turned-politician called the Delhi Chief Minister 'filthy', moreover stating how he needs his own 'broom' (AAP's logo) to 'clean his dirty mind'
