Just a day before the launch of its official campaign song, the Congress party had to change a few stanzas of it, as the Election Commission of India informed the grand-old party to make changes in its lyrics.

On Saturday, the Congress publicity committee was asked to change a couple of stanzas by the ECI, alleging that it will 'disturb communal harmony.' According to sources, the lines Election Commission had asked to remove were those alleging the NDA government in the Centre of spreading hatred and pitching communities against each other. The theme song has been penned by Javed Akhtar and the campaign video has been filmed by Nikkhil Advani.

The poll panel in its directive has mandated the political parties to seek permission of their publicity material from the ECI.

Sources also informed that the necessary changes have been made and the Congress is all set to launch their campaign song on Sunday. It highlights the Rahul Gandhi's minimum income guarantee NYAY scheme and also mentions the issue of demonetisation, farmer's suicide and GST.  The slogan of the Congress party for the Lok Sabha Election 2019 is 'AB hoga NYAY'

In the run-up to the Lok Sabha election, both the Congress and the BJP has used songs in their campaign. In February, after the 'Gully boy' rap songs created a buzz, the ruling party posted a video on their Twitter handle highlighting their pitch of 'Congress mukt Bharat'. Congress on the other hand, posted another video in retaliation mocking the PM.

With the election 2019 set to begin from April 11, both the national parties along with the regional parties have geared up their campaign blitz. The counting of the elections will take place on May 23.
