Immersed within the political season, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnanavis in an electoral conversation with Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami on Republic Bharat spoke against CM Yogi Adityanath's 'Ali-Bajrangbali' and 'green-virus' jibe.
Fadnavis stated that the Election Commission imposed a ban on Yogi Adityanath for 72 hours, and that the statements made by PM Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah are 'left out' citing how emphasis is given on the 'small statement of a third person'
He said, "He was banned by the Election Commission for three days for the language he used. What Modi ji or Amit Shah ji say, you people leave that and if some third person makes any small statement, people sometimes say things while speaking."
However over the polarising statement of the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, even Fadnavis confessed that the statement could have been avoided.
He said, "Even I agree that such such statement should not be made. But even if he said it in a speech, why don't you show the 25 good things he said? One wrong statement and you pick it up. Above all, he has been punished for it. Why will this be a point of discussion even after that?"
Even the Supreme Court took note of the alleged hate speeches made by UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath during poll campaign and sought to know from the Election Commission the action initiated against him.
A bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi summoned a representative of the EC for April 16 while agreeing to examine the poll panel's contention that it has limited legal power to deal with hate speeches of politicians during electioneering.
The chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Adityanath addressing a rally in Meerut calling out the Opposition and the Congress party said that 'if they believe in Ali, we also believe in Bajrangbali' on April 9.
Furthermore, the chief minister cited how other parties speak in favour of a 'certain group'
He said, "They want to throw a green virus to engulf the nation. West Uttar Pradesh need not come under the effect of this green virus. In East Uttar Pradesh we have alrready wiped out the virus, now in the West, we will demolish Congress'SP's BSP's RLD's 'green virus' from here..."
