The launch of BJP's election manifesto, three days ahead of the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections panned across issues ranging from national security to abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, Ram Mandir to Triple Talaq and foreign policy among others.
To accentuate on the crucial issues that the party aims to address if they retain power in 2019, Union Minister Piyush Goyal appeared on Republic Bharat's 'Puchta hai Bharat' exclusively to speak to Editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami.
He said, "I believe that Prime Minister Narendra Modi or BJP does not get stuck on one issue. We also have the potential to address a lot of issues, and it is the needed for the nation. The various issues that are faced by the country and the needs, we scripted it very responsibly in the manifesto. In the end, national security is the most significant issue and it should be."
"It is clear, if a terrorist looks at the country with an evil eye then PM Narendra Modi's government is capable and the country's citizen and the Armed Forces holds the strength to give a befitting reply," he added.
When questioned how 2022 is mentioned on multiple occassions in the manifesto, Goyal responded saying that 2022 will be a 'milestone year'
He said, "It is a proud thing that we will celebrate 75 years of India's independence in 2022 and we had appended a lot of our endevours with 2022. We were confident that the people of this country on the basis of our work will give us an opportunity again and 2022 will be a milestone year."
Reiterating his stand over Ram Mandir and its repeated mentions in BJP's manifesto, the Union Minister accused the Congress party of causing obstacles in the construction of Ram Mandir in the past and commenting on Mayawati's 'Muslim vote' comment, lashed out at the BSP supremo's divisive politics.
He said, "PM Narendra Modi and every worker of BJP, all of us are capable that a big Ram Mandir will be made on Ram Janmabhoomi. We will Constitutionally make this Ram Mandir, Congress created hurdles in the construction of Ram Mandir. Is Congress doing political tourism when they go to Mandirs?"
"The Election Commission will take cognisance of it. Mayawati is scared, she knows she is losing and she has no strength outside Uttar Pradesh. The citizens of Uttar Pradesh have rejected her, it is sad that she has come down to minority appeasement. I am sure, our Muslim community and country's 130 crore people will reject this. I appeal that people should not be divided on the basis of religion and come together and support PM Modi, our Muslim sisters should help us to pass the Triple Talaq Bill," he added.
