In a political brawl broken between AIMIM chief Asaddudin Owaisi and Yogi Adityanath, the former has accused the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh of hate-mongering, thus demanding the Election Commission for his issuing an arrest.
Owaisi's lambasted Yogi Adityanath after the chief minister called a Congress competitor, Imran Masood from the Saharanpur constituency as the "son-in-law of Azar Masood"
He said, "The chief minister of Uttar Pradesh has given a new statement, there's a candidate of some party, named Imran Masood. The chief minister went and said this Imran Masood is Azhar Masood's brother. If he's the relative of the devil Asad Masood, then were you sleeping? If Imran Masood was Masood Azhar's relative then why didn't you come ahead earlier? So what is the intention? Just because his name is Imran Masood, you start hate-mongering. Or should every Indian think that just because there's Masood in his name, he is related."
Owaisi equated this episode with that of Bin Laden when every bearded person was linked to the 9/11 mastermind, further demanding for Adityanath's arrest for violating the code of conduct under section 153-A.
He said, "You might remember after Bin Laden people looked at every bearded person. The intention is to create hate, I'd like to tell the Election Commission to impose Section 153 on the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh and arrest him. What is this? Just because his name is Masood, he becomes a relative of Masood Azhar. If I open my mouth Yogi, I can say a lot but I will not say."
Addressing a rally in Saharanpur on March 14, the BJP leader said the "son-in-law of (Jaish-e-Mohammed chief) Azhar Masood" has entered the constituency and he speaks the language of the terror mastermind.
"You people have to ensure that the person who speaks the language of Azhar Masood is defeated in the Lok Sabha elections," he said, seeking votes for the BJP candidate from Saharanpur, Raghav Lakhanpal.
Adityanath said Azhar would meet the same fate as Osama bin Laden.
You must have heard about Osama bin Laden. He was killed brutally. Azhar Masood will be killed in the same manner," he said.
The UP chief minister said the BJP is committed to nation building and will not allow "any traitor to dent India's integrity".
